Nampa Rod & Gun Club,
Inc.
Our Shooting Program is open
to all levels from first-time beginners to advanced competitors. We are particularly enthusiastic about
introducing youngsters to the shooting sports.
Our club has all of the necessary equipment for beginning to
intermediate shooters; including competition grade air rifles, air pistols and
.22 rifles, plus shooting coats, eye and ear protection, shooting mats, and
spotting scopes. We even provide the
ammunition and targets. Beginning
shooters are coached by NRA Appointed Coaches and can choose from one or more
of the shooting disciplines:
Three-Position Small-bore, Three-Position Air Rifle, Air Pistol, and Air
Rifle.
Monday nights at the indoor
range are reserved for the juniors. Ages
for participation are determined first by the parent and second after an
interview with the gun club’s Monday night staff. Nampa Rod & Gun Club reserves the right
and has final say as to the participant’s maturity level as that level pertains
to shooting. We have had some six year
olds that did great on the sand bags; and we have had some sixteen years old
that were not allowed to shoot. Parental
involvement is a requirement.
The program is based upon the
Junior Olympic Shooting Program. Every
shooter, regardless of experience, starts on the sandbags. Only after the proper shooting skills have
been determined and the guns are sighted in will the shooter go to the next
level. Shooting camps, fun shoots, and
sanctioned matches are encouraged! Combining our enthusiasm with economizing
and fund-raising, we have been able to enjoy a wide range of shooting
activities as a group.
Shooting is a lifetime
sport! The club has produced several
nationally ranked shooting athletes and a national collegiate shooting
champion! Yes, shooting is a recognized
collegiate sport with rifle shooting being a NCAA sanctioned sport with
scholarships!
Young people are the very
future of the shooting sports. By
fostering an interest in shooting among our children, we help to sustain our
sporting traditions for future generations.
